Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

I am so glad that your search for eft or eft therapy near me landed you on this page. Eft has become more known to the general public and a therapy that more and more practitioners and patients are turning to. Research shows that more than 85% of all illness is caused from underlying emotional issues. If this is true, then those dark, negative emotional areas in our life may be the instigating cause in the physical symptoms we struggle with.

Do you have areas of your life where you are fearful, feel stuck or paralyzed? Do you constantly feel stressed out or overwhelmed? Are you holding grief, sadness, resentment or anger? When someone compliments you, do you discount it and imply that you aren’t worth it? Do you say things like, “I’ll never get that promotion,” or “I’m always screwing up something.” Do you notice that you react strongly in some situations while other people don’t?

These types of emotions, thoughts and beliefs can hold us back at work and in relationships and they can affect important decisions that we make or neglect to make in life. What if they are contributing factors in our physical health as well? Negative emotions can disturb the functioning of our body’s energy system and unresolved mental disturbances can hinder the functioning of our bodies, contributing to pains and diseases.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles aren’t necessary. Instead, well-established energy meridian points on the body are stimulated through a series of tapping.

The traditional Western approach to emotional difficulties and imbalances involves a therapist assisting and at times suggesting ways to come to terms with the issues at hand. In EFT, the practitioner does not analyze the logic or emotional cause contributing to the individual’s presenting problem(s). Instead, she assists in guiding the individual tap on a series of meridian points that will put the energy flow back in order. EFT is used for both emotional and physical pain and can be applied at the privacy of your home.

What To Expect from an EFT Session:

Your initial EFT session at our clinic consists of a 60-90 minute session where Dr. Shakib will listen and outline the thoughts and emotions expressed by the individual seeking EFT. She will then proceed to apply the first session while teaching you how to apply the meridian ‘tapping’ at home.

She will observe the subtleties of your response to the tapping that may reveal YOUR specific tapping points which establishes a short cut to your routine tapping points. While in majority of cases, it takes 1-2 sessions to recover from the negative effects of an emotional imbalance, the number of sessions varies from problem to problem, and person to person. The individual’s progress at the end of each session necessitates the need for recommended future in-office sessions.

Many times, individuals prefer visiting Dr. Shakib at the clinic although they are taught how to perform EFT on their own. She therefore avails herself to all those in need of her expertise. You may contact the clinic to set up a private E.F.T. session to put an end to your pain, whether it be physical or mental.

What people say about EFT?

“EFT is working just great for me, it is night 13 of falling asleep without the pain of the Invisible Chronic Illness (fibromyalgia) and this is a phenomenal record for me. Since 1991, the onset of this illness, I have not had two pain free nights in a row.” -Janet Cole.

“As a veteran of traumatic panic attacks I am always looking for new information and creative ways to use EFT on this debilitating condition. I have learned to use EFT to keep mine under control.” -Rebecca Marina

“I have been afraid of my dark toy room for as long as I can remember. At age 10, I asked my mom to do EFT on me to get rid of this fear. In the process of my treatment (session), I learned that it was not the dark room but the fear of a stranger kidnapping me that scared me. So my mom and I tapped and tapped until I was no longer afraid. This was over 6 months ago and I no longer am afraid of my dark toy room. EFT makes me fear-free.” -Ava Cocks

“I have an interesting case report; about 6 months ago I saw a woman in my urology clinic for incontinence. Before I entered the exam room I was reviewing her outpatient chart and noticed that she was on anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication. In my mind, emotional issues often affect physical symptoms and diseases, which is why I try to use EFT as often as I can in the clinical setting. The fact that it can be used so quickly is a big plus because I don’t have a lot of time to waste.” -Eric Robins, MD
